For people allergic to eggs, dairy, nuts and shellfish, summertime patio parties, picnics and barbecues can be a minefield of concerns.

To help hosts who want to be certain their guests and family can eat salads and other warm-weather dishes in safety, here are two recipes from Toronto culinary expert and food editor Lucy Waverman. She is familiar with developing allergy-free recipes because a member of her family has a severe allergy to nuts.
