Indications: 1. For treatment of cough due to wind-cold, it is usually used in combination with Folium Perillae, Semen Armeniacae Amarum, Rhiaoma Zingiberis Recens, and other drugs having the effects of dispelling cold, promoting the dispersing function of the lung, and relieving cough, such as Xingsu San; For treatment of cough due to wind-heat, it is used together with Flos chrysanthemi, Semen Armeniacae Amarum, Folium Mori, and other drugs with the effect of dispersing wind-heat to relieve cough; For treatment of accumulation of phlegm-dampness, obstruction of functional activities of Qi, cough and chest tightness, it can be used in combination with Pericarpium Citri, Rhizoma Pinelliae, Fructus Aurantii Immaturus and other drugs with the effects of relieving phlegm, regulating the flow of Qi; For treatment of sore-throat and hoarseness due to exopathogen, it is often used together with Radix Glycyrrhizae to relieve cough and sore-throat. 2. For treatment of chest pain due to pulmonary abscess, cough with purulent sputum, it can be used in combination with Rhizoma Phragmitis, Semen Persicae, Semen Benincasae, Herba Houttuyniae, Herba Taraxaci, and other drugs to clear heat and toxins, subdue carbuncle and promote pus discharge.
Besides, its lightness and floating property enable it to cure diseases of lung and upper-jiao and to act as channel-guiding drug.
Dosage and Administration: 3-10g.
Precautions: It is not suitable to cough and hemoptysis due to deficiency of Yin.
